Our Research Center & Library
In order to promote the public’s historical education, the Sparks Heritage Museum offers visitors access to its reference library and research center.
Our library contains hundreds of books and periodicals which unlock the history of Sparks and the surrounding Truckee Meadows region, and our research center offers nearly every yearbook from Sparks High School, Reed High School, and Spanish Springs High School, in addition to shelves full of directories and binders of obituaries. Lining the walls, filing cabinets hold information about prominent Sparks families, businesses, and government officials and offer abundant opportunities for reference and discovery.
The research center also contains three computers to help connect guests with both outside resources and our ever-growing collection. These include one Apple iMac (for internet use only) and two PC computers with access to the museum’s PastPerfect Databasing Software, Newspapers.com, and Ancestry.com.
We hope visitors use this space to investigate our collections, learn about the City of Sparks, research their families, and grow their knowledge of our unique city and its rich history.
Individuals wishing to use the Sparks Heritage Museum Research Center can do so Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 A.M. to 1 P.M., or by special appointment. Contact info@sparksmuseum.org or call (775) 355-1144 for more information.
General admission is $5, and admission for seniors is $4. Members are granted admission free of charge.
