Front Desk Hosts
Our front desk hosts greet and interact with museum visitors, answer calls, collect admission fees, and process daily sales in the museum store. Hosts may also be called upon to help museum staff with daily office duties. There are always two hosts on duty at a time.
Front desk hosts are required to attend an initial half-day training to learn Museum history, policies, and procedures. Front Desk Hosts will also learn specific skills pertaining to the cash register, recording sales, and answering the telephone.

Tour Guides
Our tour guides help to enhance visitors’ experiences by directing their exploration of our museum’s exhibits, by providing them with valuable historical information, and by answering any questions they may have. Tour guides will take our guests throughout our primary museum facility and will also be tasked with showing them our outdoor exhibits, including the train on display and the Glendale Schoolhouse.
Research Assistants
Volunteer research assistants will aid the Sparks Heritage Museum by gathering information to aid in the management of our artifact collection and/or to expand our directory of genealogical resources for Sparks families.
Digitization Assistants
Volunteer digitization assistants help our museum by digitizing photographs in the museum’s collection. This project will bring greater organization to our photograph collection and provide better accessibility to historic photographs for researchers.
Photography Assistants
Volunteer photography assistants will be responsible for taking photographs of the many artifacts in the Sparks Heritage Museum’s extensive collection. This project also promotes the organization of our collection.

Public Relations Assistants
Volunteer public relations assistants will assist the museum in the management of its website and other online outlets. Additionally, these volunteers will help the museum to creatively promote its mission and offerings to the public to encourage visitation and engagement.
Sanitation & Maintenance Assistants
Volunteer sanitation and maintenance assistants will help the museum to properly maintain the cleanliness and functionality of its facilities for the benefit of the organization, its volunteers, and the public. This vital position contributes to the public’s health and safety as well as to our museum’s image in the community.
