Garrett Barmore presents “The Keck Museum and Its Collection” at 2 p.m. on October 7. This presentation is part of the First Saturday lecture series, where the Sparks Museum presents free programming 2 p.m. on the first Saturday of every month.
Located in the Mackay School of Mines Building at the University of Nevada, Reno, the W. M. Keck Earth Science & Mineral Engineering Museum houses an outstanding collection of minerals, ores, fossil specimens and photographs, in addition to mining related relics. Museum Curator Garrett Barmore will discuss the treasures housed here. This presentation will also cover the Comstock, Nevada Statehood, and the founding of the University of Nevada, Reno.
Garrett Barmore earned his Bachelor’s degree from University of Nevada, Reno, and his Master’s in Museum Studies from the University of Washington. He is the administrator at the Keck Museum on the University of Nevada, Reno campus.
