First Saturday Lecture “Historic Transit Systems In Northern Nevada” by Adam Michalski

Sparks Museum and Cultural Center’s First Saturday Lecture Series is February 3rd 2pm hosts, “Historic Transit Systems of Northern Nevada”, presented by Adam Michalski. Adam is the Curator of Education with the Nevada State Railroad Museum. This informative lecture series will document the earlier Interurban transit lines that were never built, such as the Fallon Electric Railway Company and Riverside Railway Company. The topic of discussion will also include the proposed lines to Steamboat Springs, Lake Tahoe, and Gardnerville that never materialized. Adam will cover details about the Nevada Traction Company (Downtown Reno to Moana Hot Springs), the Reno Traction Company (Reno to Sparks), and potential extensions. The history of the interurban transit system includes the transition from streetcars to buses in Reno-Sparks which involves the shift from private transit companies to RTC. The Sparks Museum and Cultural Center offers the Free Lecture Series the First Saturday of each month at 2 p.m.  in the Community Center.
